Meet Our Team

  • Vanessa
    Vanessa Haferman
    Office Director

My name is Vanessa Haferman. I was born and raised in America’s Dairyland in the great state of Wisconsin. I moved to Minnesota after high school where I attended Minnesota State University in Mankato and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology. I worked for the University Athletic Center and Mayo Clinic Health Hospital in Mankato. After receiving my degree, I completed my internship at McDonough’s Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

I moved to the Harpers Ferry area in 2013 and started working at Harpers Ferry Chiropractic in 2015.  I have always had a passion for working with people and I enjoy getting to know everyone who walks through our doors.

In my spare time I love watching football and hockey.  I also enjoy camping, playing tennis and reading. I am a devoted Green Bay Packers fan and a proud “Cheesehead”.

    Beth Ripka
    Licensed Massage Therapist

My name is Beth Ripka. I graduated from Central Maryland school of massage in 2016.

I became a massage therapist because I personally felt the amazing healing effects from massage and wanted to help others heal through the power of massage.

I enjoy learning and continuing to develop my skills to better help my clients. As a massage therapist I use a variety of techniques so I can cater to each clients needs. I feel massage has so many benefits for physical, mental and emotional well-being.

When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family, taking walks and being by the water

  • Dr. Alissa - Chiropractor Bolivar, WV
    Dr. Alissa B. Harris
    Chiropractic Physician

My name is Dr. Alissa Harris. I am originally from Grantsville, West Virginia. I was first introduced to Chiropractic at the age of 8 after sustaining a sports related injury. It was a local chiropractor that helped me recover quickly and without the use of drugs or surgery. Ever since then it has been my dream to be a chiropractor and help others.

I graduated cum laude from New York Chiropractic College and opened Harpers Ferry Chiropractic, PLLC in 2007. In 2015, I expanded my practice in order to create a center for holistic health care that integrates different methods of healing. My original purpose of offering quality health care in the hills of West Virginia continues to grow and flourish.

In an effort to help I strive to foster a strong connection within the community. I lead many workshops and lectures about chiropractic and various health topics such as weight loss and detoxification, balancing female hormones naturally, and preventing cardiovascular disease. I encourage anyone interested in maintaining their health to attend these free lectures.

When I am not working I enjoy playing in the hills that surround Harpers Ferry, WV. I like mountain biking, backpacking, rock climbing, and walks along the Shenandoah River. I personally invite all those wishing to improve their health to join our office. I am very thankful to the people of this amazing area and feel blessed to be part of the community.

    Paula Barnes
    Chiropractic Assistant

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, I spent 20 years in Central Florida and moved to Charles Town, WV in 2004. Something that started as a self-improvement and well-being journey for me, turned into a passion for functional exercise and helping others accomplish that same goal.

I have 14 years experience as a certified personal trainer (IFTA), specializing in core stabilization, mobility and increasing range of motion. I have a background in Law Enforcement and as a certified Defensive Tactics Instructor.

I try to incorporate a variety of methods and techniques to help increase strength, stamina, promote healthy core function while keeping it FUN and INNOVATIVE. Building upon an individual's strengths and focusing on weak areas, is key to maintaining a healthy, happy body and mind.  Functional exercise (Functional Rehabilitation) is all about having the ability to continue to do what you love with confidence with the least amount of pain possible.
